RegScan launches revolutionary document management solution

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Compliance is built on documents, regulations, and processes, which are linked and working together. Understanding this need, RegScan is launching today its newest value-added component dealing with document and knowledge management: Fillable Forms Manager (or FFM).

Uniquely, Fillable Forms Manager makes the content in RegScan’s GCS 2.0 datasets actionable with the click of button. No longer do users need to import forms, guidance documents, and other materials to an EMS or another document management system. RegScan now allows you to download the form, fill it out, or assign it to another user to complete, with the click of a button!

“By seamlessly integrating regulatory content, task management, and form filling, in one process our users have a one stop shop for regulatory compliance,” said Tom Balaban, EVP of RegScan. Balaban went on to say, “The addition of Fillable Forms Manager means that our 23,000 Federal and state guidance documents and forms are now live documents that can be edited, assigned out for completion, and archived. Managers will now be able to go straight from research to action with the click of a mouse.”

“Our goal with Fillable Forms Manager was to enable our users to complete, save, and print any PDF based document as if they were at a typewriter. They have the flexibility to upload their own audit protocols, forms, or standard operating procedures, or to use our document collection when completing a form," said RegScan Vice President of Sales, Geoff Smith.

Introduced in 2009, RegScan Socrates (TM) is a regulatory compliance knowledge management system. It can create compliance tasks directly from the regulations, whether complying with Sarbanes-Oxley, banking, housing, environmental health and safety, tax, or any other regulatory area. Socrates simplifies and helps organize regulatory compliance knowledge. Clients can also generate tasks using audit protocols provided by RegScan or upload their own custom questions into the Corrective Action Tracking (or CATS) module.

RegScan Socrates (TM) is part of RegScan GCS 2.0: an award-winning, next generation compliance system integrating regulatory change, knowledge management and auditing. The system allows access to fully-searchable full-text federal, state and international regulations and features an innovative toolset, such as the Audit Applicability module and the Socrates regulatory-based task management system.

Ned Ertel and Socrates

RegScan, Inc. President and CEO Ned Ertel (left) waxes philosophical with the company's newest spokesperson, Socrates (right) at the 17th Annual EHS Management Forum in Albuquerque, NM.

Greek Philosopher Socrates is alive and well... in Albuquerque

WILLIAMSPORT, PA -- Despite what you may have heard about that hemlock incident, Socrates isn't dead. In fact, he's alive and well and now promoting online compliance solutions for RegScan, Inc.

In late October, RegScan, Inc. launched its new regulatory-based task management system at NAEM's 17th Annual EHS Management Forum. And what is the name of this system? RegScan Socrates™, of course.

Socrates himself was on hand at the event to introduce attendees to the system, and to encourage people to ask questions of themselves and their current task management solutions.

"Does a man know which tasks he must accomplish to achieve regulatory compliance? Does he ponder whether or not there is a faster and easier way to keep track of the progress of such tasks? Does his current system truly meet his needs, or does he need something much more enlightened?" the philosopher pondered aloud.

Also on hand at the event was RegScan's President and CEO Ned Ertel.

"The citizens of Athens thought they did away with a great thinker... perhaps in body, but not in spirit," explains Ertel. "In keeping with Socrates' spirit, who was known for organized thought processes, we designed RegScan Socrates™ as an intelligent compliance task management system."

Unlike other task management systems, Socrates is a regulatory compliance management system where users can create tasks directly from the regulations. Whether complying with Sarbanes-Oxley, banking, housing, environmental health and safety, tax and any other regulatory area, Socrates will simplify and help organize one's regulatory compliance. Clients can also generate tasks using audit protocols provided by RegScan or upload their own custom questions into the Corrective Action Tracking (or CATS) module. Once the audit is complete, CATS will automatically create corrective action tasks from the deficiencies.

You don't need to spend time with Socrates in person to learn about the RegScan Socrates™ system. Information on the new system has been added to the www.regscan.com web site. There visitors will find an an overview RegScan Socrates™. For more information, RegScan's sales team is always happy to answer your questions at 1-800-734-7226.

RegScan launches regulatory-based task management system

RegScan, Inc. announces the launch today of RegScan Socrates(TM) (patent pending), a first of its kind regulatory-driven task management system. Unlike every other task management system, Socrates is a regulatory compliance management system where one can create tasks directly from the regulations. Whether complying with Sarbanes-Oxley, banking, housing, environmental health and safety, tax and any other regulatory area, Socrates will simplify and help organize one's regulatory compliance.

"Socrates will revolutionize how people and companies manage their compliance tasks in light of the new rapidly changing regulatory environment," said RegScan CEO and President, Ned Ertel.

"In response to client input, we designed Socrates to give users the flexibility and power to create tasks through three distinct methods," stated Geoff Smith, Vice President of Strategic Sales. "Not only can tasks be created directly from a regulation, but Socrates also enables tasks to be generated from an audit using its Corrective Action Tracking System (CATS) and populates tasks as one would in a typical task management system."

With Socrates, clients can use audit protocols provided by RegScan or upload their own custom questions into CATS. Once the audit is complete, CATS will automatically create corrective action tasks from the deficiencies.

RegScan Socrates is not just another task management system. It is regulatory-driven, meaning that regulatory needs, profiles, and changes drive compliance, with tasks becoming a by-product of those requirements. RegScan GCS and RegScan Socrates together form a six-step regulatory compliance system called the "The Compliance Loop." This loop begins with profile identification and ends with corrective action.

Founded in 1987, RegScan, Inc. provides legislative and regulatory information and services to Fortune 1000 companies worldwide. Its congressionally recognized HazMat Trucking Enforcer software is unique in its handling of complex hazardous material shipments and is used daily by both enforcement and private carriers for the safe handling of dangerous goods.

RegScan Inc. introduces Hazmat Trucking Enforcer Integrated

RegScan Inc., is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of its lauded Hazmat Trucking Enforcer software package: Hazmat Trucking Enforcer Integrated (HTEI.)

HTEI helps enforcement by providing detail guidance for auditing trailer placarding and marking, load segregation, package labeling and marking, shipping papers, and motor cargo tanks.

Version 6 introduces the new patent-pending "Show-Me-What-You-See" (or SMWYS) audit module. SMWYS allows inspectors to input what is on the shipping papers and what markings and placards they see on the trailer and instantly determine if violations exist, while the compliance pane flags segregation and permitting requirements. An easy-to-read visual guide of correct placarding and markings is also provided.

HTEI also features seamless integration with the FMCSA ASPEN data collection software. Violations can be exported with only a few mouse clicks.

The package also includes the North American Emergency Response Guide. All entries are based on the information required to be posted on a shippers manifest. Simply enter the UN/NA ID number and weight and HazMat Trucking Enforcer Integrated tells users the information needed to make the load comply with the US DOT HazMat Regulations.

Updated quarterly, HTEI is the result of nearly a decade of continual research and development. A user study showed that using HTEI reduces inspection time by 33% and that 86% more violations are found using the software. In addition to the HTEI enforcement package, versions are also available for commercial carriers and shippers.

RegScan revolutionizes Regulatory compliance with RegScan GCS 2.0

RegScan, Inc. proudly announces its new, industry-leading regulatory compliance service, RegScan GCS 2.0. With new patent-pending technology and more than 15 new tools, RegScan has revolutionized regulatory compliance.

Parallel Topical Search (patent-pending) enables users to simultaneously research Federal and state regulations by common sense topical areas. By enabling users to look at the Federal and state regulations by a topic in a side-side format, a user can quickly and easily determine if there is any regulatory difference and what that difference is. RegScan GCS 2.0 has also changed traditional searching by creating easy-to-use interfaces for both the power and the occasional user.

Other specialized features make it easier to see and understand regulatory change. RegScan GCS 2.0's strikethrough feature lets a user quickly compare different versions of a regulation with the current version. Deleted text displays with strikethrough and added text with redline. The customizable dashboard allows users to select what changed data and alerts they want displayed on their splash screen.

RegScan GCS 2.0 has also increased the usability of drilling into the regulations by creating a hierarchical drill down and breadcrumb trail. Hierarchical drilldown graphically lays out the regulatory hierarchy found in the regulations and enables users to mouse over the regulations to see the content and quickly determine which regulation fits the user needs. The breadcrumb trail allows users to navigate backward through the regulatory levels, which helps the user quickly find where they need to go.

Audit Applicability allows the user to profile the requirements for a specific facility and to easily monitor regulatory changes that impact each profile.

All these features and others have made RegScan GCS 2.0, the easiest and most powerful regulatory compliance tool on the Internet.

Founded in 1987, RegScan, Inc. began with a single regulatory database product and now has more than 900 databases on the Internet. For more about RegScan, please visit us on the web at http://www.regscan.com.

RegScan, Inc. is pleased to announce that their LookOut™ E-mail Alert Service has been improved. In addition to providing links to changed regulation, LookOut™ now includes a summary of each changed regulation. E-mails are now formatted in easy-to-read HTML complete with agency information and Federal Register page numbers to make scanning relevant changes even faster. LookOut™ remains one of the fastest and easiest ways to stay up to date on regulatory change.
